Electrical Design & Instrumentation (E&I)

Industrial Safety – Explosion Safety
PA Solutions offers in-depth risk analysis and engineering solutions to obtain the best-fit solutions for our customers within the field of explosion safety. As a striver for a safe working environment, PA Solutions forms a partner with the customers to create the required Explosion Protection Document with corresponding hazardous area classification and hazardous area classification drawings. Through this journey, PA Solutions is always looking for increased safety by the implementation of simple items such as training of employees, well defined procedures and simple engineering solutions. This to obtain a workplace which is as safe as possible in the field of explosion safety with the available tools of our customers. Furthermore, PA Solutions created their own Explosion Safety Lifecycle which starts from risk analysis to the implementation of measures to reduce the risk of explosions to end with the decommissioning of these measures. Industrial Safety - Machine Safety
We offer an extensive range of services in the field of machine safety, both for new machines and existing work equipment. We help you reduce the security risk by performing risk analyzes where we: - Putting safety first during the design phase - Reduce risks around machines by designing with systems such as fixed and movable guards, safety related control systems and others - Using posters, manuals and personal protective equipment, among other things, to ensure that users understand the residual risks Guidelines only give the essential requirements. The way to meet those requirements to reduce risks can be found in European and international standards. They provide you with the state of the art in terms of components and technologies. Process Automation Solutions helps you apply these standards in the design of your new machines as well as the evaluation of your existing machines during their lifetime. We use, among other things, EN ISO 12100 to perform a risk analysis. When reducing risks by means of guards, as well as when designing emergency stops, safety functions must be defined and reliability calculations must be made for those functions, whereby 2 standards can be applied: - EN IEC 62061 (SIL) - EN ISO 13849-1 (PL) PA Solutions helps you through a management system, the “machine safety lifecycle” to define, design, calculate and implement these functions. Afterwards, a validation plan is also defined to evaluate the design according to the safety specifications.

By applying the IEC 61511 standard, your organization can identify security risks that can cause irreversible damage to the company and the people who work there. IEC 61511 focuses on functional safety within the process industry. In particular, this standard describes best practices and requirements for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) in design, installation, operation and maintenance. Applying IEC 61511 is essential for identifying the most important safety issues in the factory environment so that your team can properly address and minimize these issues. The standard provides a structured approach to safety: the Functional Safety Lifecycle. The process of achieving and maintaining safety is divided here into phases and stages. Operator of the Future
Process Automation Solutions provides engineering and consultancy services in high performance HMI display design to create situational awareness in guiding console operators to what really matters during daily operations and moreover during process upsets. The goal of process visualization through any type of interface is empowering the console operator to monitor and control the process. Unfortunately process displays are many times a copy of a P&ID, designed as a training platform and a highly animated and colorful equipment demonstration that focusses on data instead of information. This results in distraction, especially during mitigating abnormal situations, resulting in a negative impact on ergonomics, plant production, product quality, process performance and safety. Process Automation Solutions provides high performance HMI display design services in compliance with the ISA101 HMI standard and through a pragmatic approach, in close cooperation with the end users and in line with the company culture.

Alarm Management
Alarm systems represent an essential component of the process control system and deliver key information to the HMI. The purpose of effective alarming is creating situational awareness and direct the console operator toward those conditions which require timely action. Unstructured use of alarms adds confusion to the console operator during normal and upset conditions. Unfortunately, the capabilities of digital control systems have encouraged a proliferation of alarm settings without attention for the impact on the console operators during abnormal situations, resulting in a negative impact on ergonomics, plant production, product quality, process performance and safety. In compliance with alarm management standards and best practices such as ISA-18.2, IEC62682 and EEMUA 191 Process Automation Solutions addresses all aspects of the alarm management lifecycle in a pragmatic way and in close cooperation with all stakeholders (from operator to manager).
